Online Purchase Review: POPCULTCHA from Australia

It has been a while since my last post... again! Having a lot more time now to do some reflections and re-assessment of all the things that I have been doing. I have decided to revive this blog again.

So to start off, I will be introducing a new website where you can buy toys, toy vinyl collection, board games and etc. I live in the Philippines, so giving my personal insights on websites from overseas on how the order process, packaging of items, how it is shipped and its condition after receipt; I think would be very helpful for those who are planning to buy the same items or related that I bought.

POPCULTCHA.COM

The company is based in Australia and had many brands and items to choose from, as you can see below is a scrolled view of their website (gif).
A scroll view of the homepage of Popcultcha.

Backstory:

I came upon this website last May 21, 2020, when my boyfriend wanted to purchase some Pop Vinyl toy that he wanted. He told me that it was recommended by his toy collector friends, as to they are known to sell much cheaper toy collection (esp. for Pop Vinyl) than other store locally and other websites that also caters the same item.

So I ended up signing up and placing an order of 10 Pop Vinyl in a box for 10. It is important to note that in the site you can choose box sizes to make sure that your items are safely packed and to avoid damage upon delivery. It can also be your reference as to how many items you can buy and fit in the box. Their website is fairy straight forward, so you would not have any difficulty navigating through it.

1st Purchase with 10 ramdom Pop Vinyl Items
For shipping, they actually shipped it through DHL, total shipping fee was around $34.04, not bad for a box of 10 items (box size: 14" x 10-1/2" x 9-1/2" ht.) and it took around 19 days (June 9, 2020) to arrive from Australia to the Philippines. I think previously, they have an option for the items to be shipped through postal mail (much cheaper, I think) but for now it was postponed as to the pandemic (health emergency) that is happening in the world now. So the shipping price is not bad at all and the package did arrive in very good condition.

Insight Review:

The invoice  receipt is enclose and placed inside an attached plastic cover.

Very cute packaging and they even noted that every pack or box is handled meticulously by their staff. So it is handled with care.

Inside the box, you can see a filler (air bag) to secure items inside the box so it would not add any damage to the box.
So here are the 10 Pop Vinyl Toys, we checked every box and some of the boxes have small dents, but we think it is not due to delivery but maybe how they have placed it in their inventory. But overall all in good condition.
Also another note, we have noticed that some of the boxes are already replacement boxes, due to the thickness of the cardboard box. My boyfriend had mentioned that some of the items were actually old series, they might have changed the original boxes maybe because it was damaged or have deteriorated.  He also told me that you actually order replacement box from Popcultcha, I just don't now how much it is.

PRO:
- They do ship to the PHILIPPINES! (The very important thing!)
- They have old series of Pop Vinyl and have wide range of selection of toys, board games and CDs available.
- Very good packaging, nicely sealed and delivered in very good condition (the box only had some dirt on it, but it did not have any dents)

CON:
- Fairly thin cardboard used for the replacement box. It tend to warp a bit in the back, initially we thought the box was damaged, but then we realized that the box just warped (maybe due to weather/ moisture difference)
- You might tend to splurge in shopping here... hahaha!

Overall the experience, waiting time and the quality of product is very good, We actually ordered again for the 2nd time and now for 6 boxes of Mystery Pop! Vinyl Figures.

'Til next time,
M
